About the event

Join local historian Ray LaFever for a fascinating Constitution Day presentation exploring the rich history behind the Delhi Post Office's "Down-Rent War" mural by Mary Earley (1940). LaFever will illuminate the dramatic story behind the mural's creation and explore its historical subject: the Anti-Rent War. This powerful tenant uprising swept through upstate New York from 1839 to 1845, as farmers and tenants courageously challenged the oppressive feudal land system controlled by wealthy patroons.

The program concludes with a reception featuring original commemorative t-shirt giveaways, made possible through the generous support of Delaware County Arts Grants, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts.
