About the event

Learn the ancient art of sourdough bread making in this hands-on workshop that takes you through the complete bread-making journey—from maintaining a starter to slicing warm, fresh bread!

Join Matthew Homeijer for a unique "time travel" cooking experience where you'll see every stage of sourdough development in just 90 minutes. We'll start class by putting a loaf in the oven, then work backwards through the process, exploring how to keep a sourdough starter alive, create a levain, mix and ferment dough, and master shaping techniques. By class end, you'll be enjoying the very bread that was just dough when you arrived!

What You'll Learn:

  • How to maintain and troubleshoot a sourdough starter

  • The science behind fermentation and timing

  • Hands-on mixing, folding, and shaping techniques

  • How to read your dough and know when it's ready

  • Essential baking tips for home success

What You'll Experience:

  • Touch and smell dough at different fermentation stages

  • Practice stretch-and-fold techniques

  • Scoring and shaping demonstrations

  • Taste fresh, warm sourdough bread made during class
